The Civil Division handles a variety of case filings, including new suits, small claims, evictions, and garnishments.  City Court of Zachary has civil jurisdiction over evictions, cases involving disputes valued at $35,000 or less, and our small claims court handles cases up to $5,000.  Filing fees are charged to file civil suits, small claims suits, evictions, and other pleadings.  Civil suits may be filed with the assistance of a retained attorney or in proper person using forms provided by the Clerk’s office.  Detailed information concerning additional costs and filing fees may be obtained by visiting the Civil Fee Schedule or contacting the Civil Division at 225-570-4643.
